Breast in Show is a series of work that explores and honours the empowering yet complicated relationship women have with their breasts. The artist invited women within her social network to anonymously submit images of their breasts, which she then reinterpreted through vibrant colour. Each submission arrived with its own distinct tone- some sexualized, some clinical, others playful, humorous, serious, or fleeting, as though the subject were flashing her. From these, eighteen images were selected to form the final series, representing a wide spectrum of bodies and experiences, including varied skin tones, shapes, sizes, implants, reductions, reconstructions after mastectomy, breast cancer, and lactating breasts. In painting them, the artist sought to preserve the authenticity of how the images were originally presented, capturing their essence while only removing tattoos to maintain anonymity.
